Healthcare Infrastructure

Management & Due Diligence, with Camomile Healthcare

Healthcare Organizations/Hospitals are capital intensive projects involving outlays of Rs. 100-Rs. 750 crores (US$15-US$ 100 mn) per project. One in two hospitals is saddled with poor planning, systems or infrastructure, leading to enormous waste of invested capital, delays in execution or a compromised infrastructure that is inefficient to operate. Healthcare systems are very complex entities. They require seamless integration of various functions and personnel to offer patient-centric care. The task of hospital consulting and planning involves a great deal of research, meticulous forethought, developing plans to ensure smooth operation and workflow of various activities and teams while adhering to safety and quality standard protocols and meeting strict budget and timeline constraints.

Camomile Healthcare is a leading healthcare consultancy that partners with clients from the private, public and not-for-profit sectors to identify their highest-value opportunities, address their most critical challenges, and transform their enterprises.

Hospital Due Diligence for Global Investment Funds

Hospital acquisition requires a thorough understanding of the business and the asset. A holistic approach towards due diligence of hospitals is adopted, across hospital infrastructure, architecture & design, medical equipment, operational flow, IT equipment, hospital licenses, clinical mix, revenue mix, costs analysis, human resources mix and others.

The above approach enables us to estimate the true potential of a hospital i.e., capex to be incurred to make the hospital as per best-in-class standards, approximate volume & revenue estimate in the immediate future which translate to a concrete investment plan.

An example of one such audit of infrastructure assessment and advisory that the Camomile Healthcare team undertook was of a leading group of hospitals in North East India. Five of their hospitals spread over four cities - a total of over 1000 beds were analysed. Being a part of their operations on a day to day basis helped in developing critical feedback with respect to infrastructure, operations and quality by examining all areas, services, equipment and documentation. An enriching experience as we explored every single area of the facilities - demonstrated by this picture during one of the several OT procedures we witnessed.
