Minimal interiors for a young couple, Bangalore, India
When a young couple buy their first home, its always special. A three bedroom 1500 sqft apartment in one of Bangalore’s newly built gated communities was chosen - with a challenge to transform it into a sophisticated minimal home with a nordic feel, reflecting the clients’ way of life.

A muted colour palette forms the backdrop for the furniture in light walnut and shades of beige and peach. Sharp edges on walls and ceilings are softened with gently curved arches, making the spaces cozy and refined. This language extends to some of the furniture which is finished with the same curved edges. The aim was to keep the spaces light, clutter-free, and a soothing ambience to come home to. The master bedroom boasts of fluted veneer wall panelling that accentuate the walnut furniture. The guest bedroom and study/pooja have walnut, cream and beige monochrome shades that complement the rest of the house. The open kitchen has a countertop made of durable Indian grey granite, around which all the cabinetry is in a sober light pink.

The open living and dining pour over onto the balcony with a view from the 8th floor. Daylight floods the living spaces, and together with the muted upholstery, give a sense of lightness to the entire apartment. Ambient cove lighting along with highlight hanging pendants or floor lamps are present through the home.
